04 Five Elements Mountain

Sun Wukong had thrown Heaven into chaos, and the heavenly troops and generals had been beaten back in defeat, much to the Jade Emperor's distress. Just then Guanyin Bodhisattva arrived. Learning how matters stood, she ordered her eldest disciple Hui'an to go down to the mortal world and join the fight. Iron cudgel in hand, Hui'an landed before Flower-Fruit Mountain and demanded, "Which of you is the Great Sage, Equal of Heaven?" "This old Sun is!" Wukong answered. "And who are you?" "I am Hui'an, second son of Heavenly King Li and eldest disciple of Guanyin," Hui'an cried. "I have come to take you prisoner!" "Less boasting," said Wukong. "Taste my staff first!" He swung and struck. Hui'an leveled his own cudgel to meet him, and the two fell to fighting halfway up the mountain. They fought fifty or sixty rounds before Hui'an's arms grew numb and sore. Feinting a blow, he broke off and fled. Wukong did not pursue; he stood on the ridge roaring with laughter.
