15 Lotus Cave

The Tang Monk and his three disciples left the Baoxiang Kingdom and journeyed on westward. One day, as they were travelling, a mountain suddenly rose up to block their way. The Tang Monk feared there might be tigers and wolves ahead and bade them all take care. Wukong went before to clear a path and led them up the mountain. The heights were jagged and steep, the ridges towering, the whole place exceedingly perilous. Wukong was searching for a path when he saw a woodcutter standing not far away. At the sight of the four pilgrims the woodcutter cried aloud, "Listen, monks: a crew of venomous and cruel demons lives in this mountain, and they feed on folk like you who journey east and west." At these words the Tang Monk's soul scattered in terror.
