25 The Kingdom of Jisai

Leaving the Flaming Mountains behind, the Tang Monk and his disciples pressed on toward the West to fetch the scriptures. It was late autumn and early winter, when the last petals of the wild chrysanthemums had fallen and the new plum trees were putting forth tender buds. They had traveled some distance when they looked up and saw a city rising before them.
