33 The Kingdom of Miefa

The Tang Monk hastened to raise him up. "Have no fear, Majesty. Only cast off evil and follow what is good, and your kingdom will be at peace and your people content." The king took this to heart. He asked the four to put on their own robes and caps again, and spread a great feast in their honour. At the feast the king asked the Tang Monk to give his kingdom a new name. "Majesty," said the monk, "the name Dharma kingdom is a good one; it is only the word destroy that will not do. Call it Qinfa instead, the kingdom that honours the Dharma." The king thanked him again and again. When the feast was over, the Tang Monk took his leave of the king of Qinfa, and the king himself led all his ministers out beyond the city walls to see him off. Once they were on the road, the Tang Monk said cheerfully from the saddle, "Wukong, that plan of yours was excellent; you have done great service." Sandy asked, "Elder brother, wherever did you find so many barbers?" Wukong told them all about his magic, and they laughed until their jaws ached.
